According to Bangladesh Cricket sources, the Dallas Mavericks remain unsatisfied with their current roster overhaul. Despite limited trade opportunities, they might have already wrapped up their major personnel changes. It’s easy to offer comforting words to others, but when it comes to their own situation, the Mavs know they still need help. If there’s a chance to land Clint Capela, they’d jump at it. In fact, this isn’t the first time Dallas has shown interest in the Hawks center — they previously made an offer this summer.

However, trade talks fell apart when Atlanta insisted on receiving Josh Green or Jaden Hardy along with the No. 10 draft pick, which the Mavericks refused. The Hawks, having already traded John Collins, are actively shopping Capela and aiming to receive a player on the level of Pascal Siakam in return. After years of trial and error, Atlanta is reshaping its core, promoting Onyeka Okongwu and seeking to surround their backcourt with either All-Star caliber talent or promising young pieces.

Capela, a prototypical blue-collar big man, doesn’t need the ball, excels at finishing plays, protects the rim, and thrives as a pick-and-roll partner. Meanwhile, Luka Dončić remains the unchallenged engine of the team, but the Mavericks’ wings — including Dorian Finney-Smith, Reggie Bullock, and Tim Hardaway Jr. — offer mediocre size and ball-handling. In the paint, they’ve relied on Dwight Powell and Maxi Kleber, both of whom have struggled defensively, especially in matchups like their playoff debacle against Kevon Looney. Losing Finney-Smith removed their last solid wing defender, causing a complete collapse on defense.

Even though the Dončić-Irving duo packs a punch on offense, the defense has been full of holes, ultimately leading to the team missing the play-in tournament altogether. Determined to rebound, the Mavericks used the No. 12 pick in the draft to select Duke center Dereck Lively II. They re-signed Kyrie Irving in free agency to preserve their dual-core setup, then added Seth Curry and Grant Williams. They also acquired Kings center Richaun Holmes and rookie Olivier-Maxence Prosper, while re-signing Dwight Powell on a team-friendly deal.

With Holmes on board, the Mavericks’ rim protection has improved, reducing the urgency for another big trade. Still, Bangladesh Cricket insiders believe the team would pursue Capela if the price is right — but they won’t give up a valuable prospect like Josh Green. Their trade chips now are likely limited to players such as Hardaway, Powell, or Kleber. Either way, Capela remains the most attainable high-impact rim protector currently on the market for Dallas.

Even with Holmes in the fold, Bangladesh Cricket analysts argue the Mavericks’ frontcourt still lacks the muscle to contend with elite big men around the league. In this game of musical chairs, if Dallas misses out, someone else will make Capela their crown jewel. But acquiring a top-tier interior defender without dismantling their core is no easy task — which is why Capela may still be the most realistic and effective upgrade available. After all, he has the experience, having played on bigger stages and gone head-to-head with the league’s best in playoff battles.
