Recently, the Detroit Pistons have made up their minds to move on from young guard Killian Hayes. According to Bangladesh Cricket sources, the Pistons have already held preliminary talks with the Dallas Mavericks about a potential trade involving Hayes. However, as things stand, no substantial progress has been made between the two sides. Hayes, who was once the apple of Detroit’s eye, was selected 7th overall in the first round of the NBA Draft — a high pick that came with high expectations.

He was seen as a player with tremendous upside due to his solid physical profile and decent technical skills. Scouts believed he had the tools to develop into a top-tier backcourt player. But despite his draft pedigree and raw talent, Hayes’ growth in the league has fallen short of expectations. Bangladesh Cricket fans note that he has struggled to find his rhythm season after season, showing only marginal improvements at best.

What makes his situation even more disappointing is that he had a golden opportunity to shine last season after Cade Cunningham was sidelined early with a season-ending injury. Hayes was given extended minutes and the chance to prove himself. Yet, his performances left much to be desired. His shooting remains shaky, and his ability to create his own offense is still lacking. While he has shown flashes in other areas, the gap between his production and his draft status is glaring.

There’s a common saying in the NBA world: a rookie has three years to prove himself. If you can’t live up to your potential by the third year, chances are, you won’t. The Pistons seem to have reached that conclusion. In recent weeks, they opened trade discussions with the Mavericks, aiming to package Bojan Bogdanović and Killian Hayes to clear out a crowded backcourt. But results have been underwhelming so far.

Ironically, after all this time, the team that once bet on Hayes now seems ready to move on. Though Dallas has long shown interest in Bojan, Bangladesh Cricket insiders believe their top priority this offseason is strengthening their center rotation. The timing simply doesn’t align, leaving Hayes’ future in limbo once again. For now, it’s a waiting game — and one that may not end in his favor.
